The wife of Rabâ h Qaysi

She used to spend the entire night in ‘ibâdah . When one eighth of the night used to pass, she used to say to her husband: "Wake up." If he did not wake up, she would awaken him after some time. Eventually, towards the latter part of the night she used to say: "O Rabâ h ! Wake up. The night is passing by and you are still sleeping." At times she used to pick up a blade of grass and say: "I swear by Allah, in my eyes this world is more valueless than this blade of grass." After offering her s alât, she used to adorn herself with beautiful clothes and ask her husband if he had any desire. If he replied in the negative, she used to take out the clothes and occupy herself in nafl s alât till the following morning.
